Rea Hederman, President of the Foundation, is the publisher of The New York Review of Books.

Daniel Mendelsohn

Daniel Mendelsohn, Director of the Foundation. A memoirist, critic, essayist and translator, Mr. Mendelsohn is the Editor-at-Large of the New York Review of Books and a professor of humanities at Bard College. His books include An Odyssey: A Father, a Son, and an Epic, The Lost: A Search for Six of Six Million, a translation of the Greek poet Constantine Cavafy, and three collections of essays. His tenth book, Three Rings: A Tale of Exile, Narrative, and Fate was published in 2020.

Vinson Cunningham

Vinson Cunningham is a staff writer and a theatre critic at The New Yorker. In 2020, he was a finalist for a National Magazine Award for his profile of the comedian Tracy Morgan. A former White House staffer, he now teaches in the MFA Writing program at Sarah Lawrence College and lives in New York City. His debut novel, The Party Year, is forthcoming from Hogarth/Random House.

Jonathan Galassi

Jonathan Galassi is Chairman and Executive Editor of Farrar, Straus & Giroux. He has published poetry, novels, critical essays, and translations of Italian poetry. He lives In New York City.

Alma Guillermoprieto

Alma Guillermoprieto is a Mexican journalist. She is the author of three works of reportage and a memoir. Among her awards are a MacArthur Fellowship and the Princess of Asturias award for the Humanities. She lives in Bogotá. 

Patrick Hederman

Since 2007, Patrick Hederman has worked at The New York Review of Books, where he is involved on the publishing side of both the magazine and its book publishing imprint, NYRB Classics.

Zadie Smith

Zadie Smith is the author of the novels White Teeth, The Autograph Man, On Beauty, NW, and Swing Time, as well as two collections of essays, Changing My Mind and Feel Free. Zadie was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2002, and was listed as one of Granta‘s 20 Best Young British Novelists in 2003 and again in 2013. She is currently a tenured professor of fiction at New York University and a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
