The Silvers-Dudley Prizes
The Silvers-Dudley Prizes recognize outstanding achievement in the genres of writing that Mr. Silvers and his late partner, Lady Grace Dudley, embraced and encouraged during Mr. Silvers’ tenure as founding editor of The New York Review of Books.
Each prize is awarded in two tiers: an award of $30,000, for established writers and one of $15,000 for emerging voices. There are three categories each year.
- The Robert B. Silvers Prize for Literary Criticism, recognizing achievement in long-form literary criticism and the intellectual and cultural essay.
- The Grace Dudley Prize for Arts Writing, recognizing achievement in critical writing on the fine and performing arts or on cultural history.
- The Robert B. Silvers Prize for Journalism, recognizing achievement in reporting, long-form political analysis, or commentary.
There is no application process.
